Alligator or Side Leg Raises

This helps improve flexibility and strength in the hips and legs.

  1. Ask your child to lay on their side and raise their top leg while keeping it straight. Then, bring the top leg up and down in a slow, controlled manner. Don’t forget to keep your body in a straight line with your tummy tight.

  2. Pretend you are an alligator opening and closing its mouth. Try to make each leg raise slow and steady, counting each time. Do 5 leg raises on each side or more if your child can keep going. Each time you do this exercise, you should be able to add one or two additional raises.
