Why this book?

Sleepy Little Yoga won the title of Best Children’s Book of the Year in 2008. This book helps kids wind down from a long day before bedtime. The simple nine yoga poses and exercises help soothe the mind and body, resulting in relaxed and restful sleep.


Sleepy little yoga has practice tips, detailed information on each pose (for the instructors and caregivers), and photos of kids doing the poses on each page to help kids easily copy them. When you look at those poses and pictures, it is very easy to conclude that inspiration for those came from nighttime animals like bats and owls, even bunnies.


Overall, sleepy little yoga is a colorful, accessible, and bright book that helps younger benefit from yoga.


You Are a Lion

Age Range: 3 to 5 years old


Why this book?

From an award-winning artist and writer, this book if great, especially for younger children, because it encourages them to enjoy animal yoga poses by imagining themselves as those animals. Even though Kathy specified the age range of this book to be 3 to 10 years old, it is suitable for children of all ages since it invites the reader to connect with the sea. The refreshing exercises and the rhyming riddles create a rich experience for both the children and their caregivers.





The Yoga Game in the Garden

Written By: Kathy Beliveau

Age Range: 3 to 7 years old


Why this book?

Last but nowhere near the least, is Kathy Beliveau’s book, “The Yoga Game in the garden,” with the alliance of the illustrator Denis Holmes. It shows yoga poses with the theme of the garden.


The book features yoga posses, like “hum like the bee” or “grow like the tree,” that enable kids to be more attentive to their surroundings. The book also has many creative riddles and rhymes on each page, asking children to guess which pose they are in.
